Congratulations to Pinterest!

Is it a social media site? Is it a pinboard? Is it an online database of everything awesome? Yes to all!

Pinterest, the worlds latest addiction on the interwebs has reached 10M Monthly Unique visitors! What an accomplishment. Hitting this milestone means the only sites that have more visitors and that people spend more time on is Facebook and Tumblr. Wowza!

comScore states, that the average Pinterest user spends at least 98 minutes each month on their site. That is right below Tumblrs 2.5 hours and 7 hours on Facebook (yikes, guilty). They also noted that Pinterest was the fastest independent site to hit 10 million monthly uniques in the U.S.!

Now that’s something to celebrate.

Congrats and happy pinning! (Going to kick myself into getting back into sharing some amazing things I find on there… stay tuned!) and while you’re at it.. follow me!

Social Media explained with Donuts

When trying to explain the large list of social media sites one can be a part of it can be a bit overwhelming.

Breaking it down nice and simply with the use of donuts.

It just makes…sense.

Unique and Adorable iPhone Cases

Ever since kicking my Droid to the curb and finally meeting the love of my life – my iPhone. I have been facinated by the MILLION of sites that house cases and accessories for the phone. I’ve come to the realization it is much cheaper to decorate my phone, rather than myself (this is what I keep telling myself, just go with it) So why not have fun with it?

As with many other occasions I often turn to Etsy. I’m sure most of you are familiar with the Online Marketplace but for those of you that aren’t – Etsy is a website that has hundreds of online boutiques. Handmade items, artwork, vintage shops. You can find anything on there. It’s much more fulfilling buying from someone on there then going to a mainstream shop and spending your money on factory made items!

Enter NapPage these ladies from Bankok make some kick-ass iPhone cases with the art of decoupaging.

noun: The decoration of the surface of an object with paper cut-outs.

In this case, paper napkins. (Napkins..decoupage..NapPage..get it?)

So many unique styles and choices and reasonably priced! Check them out if your iPhone is looking a little.. naked.

What’s in a name?

You can’t be a lover of all things Advertising, without giving homage to the heart of the creativity.. the agencies. Usually, these names are taken from the owner. ( ex. Ogilvy & Mather)

What about the ones with a little more..spunk in coming up with a name. AdWeek put together a list of some great and unusual agency names.

Fresh Words

Well it’s a new year! Happy 2012, sure I’m a few weeks late.

As life is getting ahead of me I wanted to step back and see what makes me happy, truly. Blogging is not something that should be a job. It should be fun. I tweet, I pin, I post.

I have so many thoughts running around on my head – on social media,  ads, life. It’s time I just let that all go on here.

So bare with me kids, 2012 is starting fresh. I hope you like me.

Rape ad taking it too far?

Drinking has usually had some sort of connection to the reasoning behind rape or accusations of rape. There have been a countless number of cases where women have had too much to drink and have been taken advantage of. This ad was pulled by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Commission.

Their reasoning is that it puts too much responsibility on the victim.

I can see why this would strike a few nerves, but what do you think?

Lisa Frank Adult Clothes?!

Lisa Frank.. queen of the 90s has decided to make clothing for adults. First of all where was this when I was a kid. I wanted a plastic covered colored unicorn fleece and or flannel hat!

Girls (and boys, hey – no judgement) of the 90’s – Rejoice!

Holy Unicorns! Lisa Frank is Making Clothes for Adults : Lucky Magazine.

Irresponsible Advertising?

Miu Miu’s recent Advertisement featuring 14 year old Hailee Steinfeld was recently pulled by The Advertising Standards Authority.

They stated that she was seen in an “irresponsible place” – That being, rail road tracks wiping away tears from her eyes (hey, couldn’t it be dust?)

I really.. just have no words.

I’m Thankful…

Sure, the leftovers are safely in their tupperware with care but this doesn’t give me any less of a reason to tell you what I’m thankful for.

  • Tightly made beds with fresh sheets
  • Early morning phone calls and texts
  • A workplace with positive energy, constantly. Great coworkers and a fun place to spend my days
  • Fresh hot cocoa made on the stove
  • Puppy kisses
  • Friends who know what you’re thinking even when you don’t say it
  • Christmas shopping, cookies and carols
  • Thanksgiving dinners with family that you only get to see a few times a year
  • Ice cream
  • Pictures
  • Sing-a-longs in the car
  • Fuzzy slippers
  • Down Comforters
  • Love

What are you thankful for?? Don’t be thankful just on Holidays. Be thankful every day for what you have. Hope everyone had a beautiful Thanksgiving Break!

PETA Protests…Mario Bros?

As the preorders of Super Mario 3D Land come flying in this holiday season there is one major organization that will not be on the list. PETA.

PETA is protesting the Tanooki suit that Mario wears in the game. It was first introduced in 1988 in Super Mario Bros. 3.

According to PETA, “Tanooki may be just a ‘suit’ in Mario games, but in real life, tanuki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur. By wearing Tanooki, Mario is sending the message that it’s OK to wear fur.”

What do you think, is this a little extreme of a protest?
